The past twelve months have indeed been another bumper year for progressive music, and the following ten bands and artists are, in our humble opinion, the major movers and shakers in the world of Prog. These are the guys who have been at the top of their game for the past year, helping push the progressive cause ever onwards. But who’s going to get your vote in the Band/Artist Of The Year category?

Sill under the stewardship of the mercurial Robert John Godfrey, The Enid’s career renaissance over the past few years has been nothing short of remarkable. But wholly deserved to boot.
The Pineapple Thief
The Somerset based band are fast becoming one of the UK’s best-loved progressive outfits whilst frontman Bruce Soord continues to prove himself a masterful creator of music.
The Swedes have continued to move deep into prog territory with the darkly enthralling Dead End Kings, which is now getting an even proggier makeover.
The ex-Genesis guitarist’s career renaissance shows no sign of slowing down. Since Prog magazine has been up and running he’s been at the very top of his game.
Sounds That Can’t Be Made proved that Marillion’s desire to continue to create groundbreaking and unique music remains unparalleled in this day and age.
The Flower Kings
Led by the super talented Roine Stolt, the return of the progressive Swedes to active duty last year was something that lit up the hearts of many a prog aficionado.
New album The 2nd Law showed Muse are unafraid to add new shades to their colour palate, whilst memorably massive stadium shows prove they are one of the biggest draws in rock music.
With Porcupine Tree on the back burner the prolific Mr. Wilson has wasted no time in spearheading his own solo career with some quite breathtaking music.
Last year they scooped the New Blood award. Since then they’ve settled on a new singer and released one of the finest albums you’ll hear all year.
