Prog Awards Voting And Radio Show Go Live!
The Progressive Music Awards 2013, presented by Orange Amplification, are upon us again! And you can start voting at www.progrockmag.com/awards just after 6pm this Sunday, July 7, when the Prog Magazine Radio Show launches on TeamRock Radio.
Taking place for the second year at Kew Gardens on September 3, the Prog Awards honours new acts just starting on the prog ladder as well as celebrating established icons of the genre. Last year saw Genesis, Rick Wakeman, Steven Wilson, Steve Hackett, Anathema and TesseracT walking away with gongs. This year there are 12 categories, and seven have a shortlist of 10 nominees waiting for your vote.
Two new categories have been added – Best Band and Breakthrough Artist – alongside a retitled Limelight category, which was formerly New Blood.
Prog editor Jerry Ewing says: “Given the breadth of amazing music that continues to be made in our field it was only right to extend the number of nominations within each category to cater for this fact, and also to give readers a wider choice of artists and music to consider for their patronage.”
When you register to vote at www.progrockmag.com/awards you’ll get the chance to win a prize bundle featuring goodies from all nominated acts.
The Awards will feature in TeamRock Radio’s brand new Prog Magazine Radio Show, hosted by long-time contributor Philip Wilding. Philip has been with Prog since its inception and the two-hour bonanza will cover the huge scope of acts featured in each issue. Internationally renowned – well, round parts of the Rhondda valley and South London – as ‘a complex man for complex music’, Philip will be declaring the voting site www.progrockmag.com/awards to be open shortly after the show starts, from 6pm. Trebles all round!
The categories are:
Limelight (Formally New Blood award)
Album Of The Year
Band/Artist Of The Year
The non-voted Virtuoso, Guiding Light, Visionary, Lifetime Achievement and Prog God Awards will all be announced on the night.
