Haken’s Richard Henshall: Third Album ‘Will Be The One We’re Remembered For’
UK prog metal outfit Haken have ‘almost finished’ their highly-anticipated third album, and have posted a new teaser trailer on their Facebook page.
The as-yet-untitled album is due for release in August, and will be their first for major prog label, InsideOut.
Guitarist/keyboardist Richard Henshall tells Prog that the band are ‘excited and confident’ about the follow-up to 2011′s Visions. “We’re are really starting to believe that it will be one we’re remembered for in years to come. When writing the framework for the album, I made a conscious effort to give each song its own identity so that they could stand alone or as part of the album as a whole, unlike Aquarius and Visions, which could be seen as two large pieces of work.”
Henshall says the songs feel more raw and energetic than their previous work. “All the essential elements of our sound are still there, but have been delivered in a more elemental and gritty style. Lyrically, we decided to deal with themes that are personal to band, which I hope many of our fans will relate to.”
